Foundation to Advance Public Health
301 Grant Street, Suite 4300, Pittsburgh, 15219
The Foundation, among other charitable purposes, endeavors to protect the health of communities by encouraging the certification of the public health workforce and by seeking funding for this and other public health workforce related purposes. The public’s health is enhanced by the Foundation’s assuring a competent and certified public health workforce. Until 2008, public health was the last health profession without a certification, credential, or license. Therefore, certification puts public health on par with other professions. Certified in Public Health (CPH) professionals have demonstrated the knowledge and skills relevant to contemporary public health, by completion of an exam, continuing education, and periodic re-assessment. Those who support CPH professionals are participating in a mechanism for accountability for the public’s health.
