Drama has profound humanizing benefits both for the performer and the audience; therefore, in consideration of this fundamental fact, the primary purpose of Greensburg Civic Theatre (GCT) is to serve the Greensburg, Westmoreland County, Southwestern Pennsylvania community and beyond through the staging and presentation of dramatic plays and works, to present opportunities for amateur as well as aspiring professional actors, directors, and other theater technicians to explore their talents within the local community. When finances permit, the organization will additionally operate a children’s theater, known as the Greasepaint Players (GPP), affording young children, not only an introduction to stagecraft, but the opportunity to develop poise, self-confidence, language skills, and group responsibility. The organization, from time to time, through GPP, may offer classes in acting and stagecraft fundamentals, and may offer in-school performances to enhance the curricula of area schools.
