Every year, refugee and immigrant families arrive in Pittsburgh seeking safety, opportunity, and the chance to build a new life.

But arriving is only the first step.

Families must find safe housing, learn a new language, secure employment, navigate unfamiliar systems, and rebuild a sense of belonging. All while starting over from scratch.

At Hello Neighbor, we walk alongside our newest neighbors every step of the way. Through housing assistance, employment support, English language learning, and meaningful community connections, we help families build stable, independent, and fulfilling futures.

Meet Ali

When Ali and his family arrived in Pittsburgh from Afghanistan, they were determined to build a better future, but like so many newly arrived families, they faced the challenge of starting over.

With support from Hello Neighbor, Ali received critical rent assistance and career guidance that helped his family gain stability while he pursued new opportunities.

Today, Ali works as a mechanical technician, managing advanced robotics and troubleshooting technical systems. He continues to study English every day, with the dream of attending college and creating even more opportunities for his wife and daughters.

First of all, the happiness of my family... Yes, there is so much to be proud of."

Our goal is to raise $3,000 to ensure refugee and immigrant families continue receiving the support they need to build safe, stable, and successful lives in our community.
