Action for Animals Humane Society Add to Favorites

AFAHS was founded in 1983 to shelter and provide care for abused, abandoned and stray dogs and cats of Westmoreland County. We are a 501c3 non-profit, non-government funded, no-kill shelter that keeps animals free from the threat of unwarranted euthanasia. We adopt animals into responsible homes and vigorously promote the spay and neuter of all pets to eliminate the cruelty of animal overpopulation.

AFAHS is Westmoreland County's oldest and largest no-kill animal shelter. In addition to rescuing over 1,000 animals every year, we offer a low cost weekly spay/neuter program and monthly walk in shot clinic. We also work closely with animal control agencies, puppy mill rescues and open door shelters as well as provide free services to victims of domestic violence and offer a special senior to senior adoption program. Our beautiful facility just outside of Latrobe PA includes a state of the art surgery suite, private visitation rooms, a dog park, cageless cattery, education room and isolation unit to treat animals with contagious disease. On average, over 3.000 animals are served through our clinic each year.
