The Pennsylvania Hardship Program provides utility assistance grants to low-income families to ensure they maintain or restore safe gas, electric or water service. The program provides one-time assistance grants to eligible customers that are applied directly to their utility bill. Funding is available on a first come, first serve basis and eligibility requirements vary based on the utility company.
For more than 40 years, Dollar Energy Fund has served the limited-income community by providing $3 million in utility assistance grants to more than 958,600 limited-income families and individuals.
Dollar Energy Fund realizes that utility payment problems are not stand allow issues. We partner with a network of over 175 Community Based Organizations throughout Pennsylvania for application intake services. These organizations connect families with other social service programs that can help address other household issues.
Every donation Dollar Energy Fund receives is matched dollar-for-dollar by our utility partners. And, because these partners provide an additional donation to cover the administrative expenses associated with distributing the grants, 100 percent of all donations and
