Artists Image Resource

Artists Image Resource (AIR) is an artist run, non-profit print and imaging organization established in 1996 to serve as a laboratory for artists, educators and the community. AIR's mission is to integrate the creation of fine art prints with educational programs that explore the role of the artist in contemporary culture. AIR's primary activities are to initiate projects with professional artists and to create active laboratory environments where artists, students and the public interact.

Artists Image Resource's overarching program structure includes: Artists' Projects and Production Programs, Education and Community Access Programs, and Public Exhibition and Presentation Programs. These programs are inter-related and designed to symbiotically support and enhance each other. The core 'bridge' program that connects all of these programs is AIR's Workforce and Mentorship Program which intersects all other programming. New participants are oriented to the shop's practices and taught essential skills by working on artists' production projects. New participants are then challenged to bring those skills to the development and support of various community and educational projects where their activities culminate in the execution of public projects and the exhibition and presentation of cultural work.
