Gwen's Girls provides services driven by the needs of our girls and families. We recognize the social barriers of race, class, and gender, celebrate the female spirit, and embrace diverse cultures, perspectives, and experiences to enrich our communities. Our programs educate and empower girls to overcome challenges and grow into successful adults. Prevention services include case management, psycho-educational and therapeutic groups, health and wellness education, mentoring, summer camp, and a comprehensive job readiness program. Through the Black Girls Equity Alliance (BGEA), we address disparities in child welfare, juvenile justice, education, and health. These workgroups foster collaborative initiatives, including trauma-informed care training, data-driven solutions, and community resource development to improve outcomes for Black girls.
Janayah has been with Gwen's Girls since age eight and just graduated from fifth grade. Her favorite memory is cooking and making a cookbook. She wants to keep learning how to build healthy relationships and dance.
