Building Brighter Futures, One Girl at a Time

Janayah's Story

Since joining Gwen's Girls at just eight years old, Janayah has found a place where she can learn, grow, and be herself. One of her favorite memories was participating in culinary classes and creating a cookbook with girls her age. Through every experience, she has built confidence,

ke mental health concerns, community violence, academic inequities, and economic hardships.

For nearly 25 years, Gwen's Girls has been working to change this. We help girls avoid and overcome the obstacles they are facing. As one of the nation's pioneers in holistic, gender-responsive programming for girls and young women, Gwen's Girls provides a comprehensive continuum of care that helps girls build confidence, strengthen relationships, develop leadership skills, and reach their full potential.

Our services center the needs of the girls and families we serve. Through mentoring, behavioral health services, academic support, health and wellness education, summer programming, and leadership and workforce development, we help girls discover their strengths while equipping them with the tools to thrive in school, at home, and in their communities.

We also know that supporting girls means supporting the entire family and community. Through engagement events, community partnerships, and Caring Connections for YOUth, we connect families with resources that promote stability and well-being.

Beyond direct services, we also work to change systems through the Black Girls Equity Alliance. We bring together community leaders, educators, service providers, and advocates to address disparities affecting Black girls in child welfare, juvenile justice, education, and health.

Together, we're creating a future where every girl has access to the support, relationships, resources, and opportunities that she deserves.

Aziyah's Story

For the past two years, Gwen's Girls has encouraged Aziyah to pursue her passions, develop new skills, and make new friends. She enjoys hands-on projects that challenge her to think differently and inspire her to keep learning.

Jhustice's Story

For seven years, Gwen's Girls has been part of Jhustice's journey. This fall, she'll begin a new chapter at Clairton High School, where she has already earned a spot on the varsity cheerleading team. Through years of mentoring, leadership opportunities, and encouragement, Jhustice has developed the confidence to pursue her goals and serve as a role model for younger girls who are following in her footsteps.

Every girl's journey is different, but they all have one thing in common: they deserve the support, encouragement, and opportunities to succeed. Your gift during the #ONEDAY Critical Needs Alert helps ensure more girls like Janayah, Aziyah, and Jhustice have access to trusted mentors, safe spaces, behavioral health services, academic support, and leadership opportunities that change lives.
