For the past 30 years there has been a food pantry in Swissvale. In the beginning of 2017 Swissvale Cares, Inc. took over operation and management of the Swissvale Community Food Pantry. We operated out of a small storefront on Noble St. This transition had been seamless and smooth since most of the board has been involved with the pantry for years prior to this change. We are VERY happy and proud to announce that just beginning on April 1st of 2018 we moved into a much larger storefront at 2028 Noble St We will be able to expand our offerings at each distribution and also host fresh vegetable and produce drops beginning in February and continuing all through the summer and fall.
We distribute monthly allotments of food to individuals and families in our community with a demonstrated need. The food we distribute is provided to us by a combination of public and private funds. We are an agency of the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
We also utilize the 4 1 2 Food Rescue to supplement our distributions and are also the recipient of regular food drives by local boy scouts, girl scouts, church groups and post office collection drives.
