The Open Door, Inc
About this Organization
The Open Door, Inc. improves access to healthcare and social services for people living with HIV-especially those who are chronically homeless or at high risk.
Our mission: Building from a harm reduction model, we provide supportive housing and related services to improve health and quality of life for those too often forgotten.
We believe housing is healthcare. While Pittsburgh offers excellent HIV care, many of our participants face severe barriers-homelessness, trauma, stigma-that prevent them from accessing it. By providing safe, stable housing first, individuals can focus on their health, treatment adherence, and long-term goals.
We provide transitional housing, non-medical case management, representative payee services, peer advocacy, and resource navigation. Our participants also benefit from community meals, emergency food assistance, and ongoing opportunities for connection through quality-of-life and community-building events-all designed to foster stability, dignity, and wellness.
