Just Mediation Pittsburgh supports tenants and landlords in conflict to create their own constructive solutions through accessible mediation, facilitation, and creative problem solving. Our Values: Accessible - Reduce barriers to our services Collaborative - Engage with community members, organizations, and governmental entities Community-Based - Address conflict from the wisdom of us, not me Impartial - Treat everyone fairly and with empathy Inclusive - Provide a service that respects our differences Innovative - Creatively problem solve to address social issues Self-Determination - Ensure both parties have a voice in determining the outcome Strategic - Convene deliberate decision-making

Since our inception in 2020, Just Mediation Pittsburgh has been a community-centered hub for resolving housing disputes between landlords and tenants - offering an alternative approach to conflict resolution and providing an opportunity to resolve conflict outside of the courtroom.

We believe that empowering individuals with the tools for constructive dialogue paves the way for impactful and positive outcomes. We've trained over 100 community mediators, nurturing a community where peace-building, dialogue, and constructive resolution thrives.

Operating exclusively remotely, our program leverages virtual mediation sessions - mediation from the comfort of your own home. Offering interpretation and translation services through GlobalWordsmiths, we're committed to making the mediation process as accessible and convenient as possible for all involved. In collaboration with ACTION-Housing, RentHelpPGH, Neighborhood Legal Services, Pittsburgh Hispanic Development Corporation, and other local organizations, we ensure our participants have access to a wealth of resources. These partnerships bolster our efforts, enabling participants to tap into programs tailored to their diverse needs.

Testimonials

Tenants:
"Process was very easy and the staff was very pleasant and helpful. I would recommend your services to other residents who are struggling with rent payments."
"JMP was very helpful because I was able to set up a payment plan with my landlord."

Landlords:
"Mediation helped open communication between management and tenant."
"These mediations are very helpful. People fall on hard times, and then the owners aren't receiving their rent, which is a hardship on both sides."

Commission on Human Relations:
"Thank you for this. Some of these [success stats] truly shocked me. What doesn't, though, is your success rate at JMP. You all are amazing. I stand by JMP 100%."
