Your Help Lessens Their Hardship

Our work is made possible by the generosity of wonderful supporters like you. The impact of your gift to NHCO on Critical Needs Day will make a significant impact on the lives of our neighbors who need help the most. Every donation over $25 will receive a partial match from a $500,000 incentive pool, helping your gift go even further. The match dollars are distributed proportionately, meaning the more we raise, the more funds we can unlock.

North Hills Community Outreach addresses the needs of people experiencing crisis, hardship, and poverty in Northern Allegheny County. Through our various services and programs, we foster self-sufficiency, while treating all individuals with dignity, understanding, and compassion.

The Need 
1 out of 9 people in our region are going hungry, including 1 in 6 children. 

Your Impact 
Last year alone, 1548 families and individuals experiencing food insecurity were able to stock their shelves and refrigerators with produce, meat, and other goods from NHCO’s food pantries in Allison Park, North Boroughs, and Millvale. 

The Need 
As Allegheny County’s older adult population grows, high rates of missed medical appointments among seniors are creating increased barriers to care and poorer health outcomes. 

Your Impact 
418 older adults last year were able to stay safe, connected, and cared for thanks to NHCO’s senior programs, providing essential transportation, wellness checks, and friendly visits that help ensure no neighbor faces aging alone. 

The Need 
Nearly 40% of households in our region, including those of working families, are struggling to pay bills due to rising costs of food, housing, transportation, and other necessities. 

Your Impact 
Through NHCO's housing and utility assistance programs, 2,230 households were able to stay in their homes and keep their heat and lights on last year. 

The Need
Many of our neighbors in Northern Allegheny County rely on a personal vehicle to get to work, but struggle to maintain this critical lifeline to employment and resources as fuel, purchase, and repair costs continue to increase.  

Your Impact 
NHCO's transportation financial assistance services enabled 121 families to stay on the road and continue to move forward, with cars repaired instead of being abandoned, insurance bills brought current, bus passes secured, and car seats provided so children could travel safely.
