Pittsburgh Hires Veterans

Pittsburgh Hires Veterans' mission and duty is to provide FREE one-on-one support to U.S. military veterans and current service members, including the National Guard, Reserves and spouses in search of education, training and employment opportunities without regard to discharge status or era served.

Veterans need help finding employment. Finding a job after their military service affects nearly 200,000 veterans every year and according to Pew Research Center, only one in four veterans have a job lined up after leaving the military. In some cases, PHV acts as the last line of prevention before homelessness. 

In our service area, Southwestern Pennsylvania, there are, over 3,000 unemployed Veterans and, alarmingly, 9,500 Veterans living below the poverty line!

The programming at Pittsburgh Hires Veterans strives to improve veteran hiring outcomes in Southwestern PA through better matching of veterans to employer needs and improved retention through employer partnerships. PHV provides one-on-one career readiness services to veterans and partners with over 400 local employers creating easy-to-navigate pipelines to family-sustaining jobs for veterans.

Last year, PHV helped, 149 veterans and spouses get jobs with an average income of $59,000. Increasing earnings by 6X. In 2026, we are on track to exceed these numbers. With your help, we know that we can!
