Westmoreland Community Action

Westmoreland Community Action (WCA) has served Westmoreland County since 1980. WCA’s mission is to connect individuals and families to opportunities and resources to improve their quality of life and help to reduce poverty in the community.  Each year, WCA helps more than 16,000 residents, most of whom live at or below 200% of the federal poverty level. Its reach and impact continue to grow.

WCA’s vision is for everyone in Westmoreland County to have the resources needed for long-term success and self-sufficiency. To support this goal, WCA offers a wide range of programs designed to meet local needs. These include children and family services, housing support, emergency assistance, mental and behavioral health care, job training, financial counseling, and more. Welcome Centers located across the county make it easier for people to access help close to home. With over 230 staff members and more than 30 programs each year, WCA meets immediate needs while helping people build skills for a better future.

WCA advocates for those who need support the most. It educates the community, works with local employers, and raises awareness about the challenges faced by lower-income families. The organization brings together service agencies, businesses, community groups, and local governments to work toward shared goals. Its work is guided by clear values: treating people with respect, acting with honesty and transparency, making a meaningful impact, and continuing to improve.

WCA believes that lasting change comes from working together and adjusting to the community’s changing needs. Its commitment to quality is shown through its PANO Standards of Excellence accreditation, Equal Housing Opportunity status, and strong partnerships with organizations across Western Pennsylvania.
