Critical Needs Day- Jon Ponce

As a new employee at the Baierl Family YMCA, I am filled with gratitude and a deep sense of purpose. This is not just a new job for me; it is an opportunity to serve a place that has truly carried my family through some of our most challenging times. Over the past few years, the Y has given my children and me more than a membership—it has given us stability, community, and hope.

During one of the darkest and most difficult times in my life, the assistance we received made it possible for us to hold onto something grounding and life-giving: our membership. Because of that support, I was able to keep showing up for my health, my healing, and my kids. The Y became the place where I could work through my anxiety, push back against depression, and find strength I didn’t know I still had.

I feel incredibly honored to step into the role of Membership Coordinator. I understand firsthand how vulnerable it can feel to ask for help and how life-changing it can be to receive it. My goal is to ensure that families facing personal or professional hardships know they are seen, supported, and welcomed here.

Now, it is my turn to give back to the community that lifted me. With your support, I know we can continue to open doors, strengthen families, and make a lasting difference in the lives of so many. Thank you for being part of this mission.
