#ONEDAY Critical Needs Alert

#ONEDAY Critical Needs Alert is Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2024

The Pittsburgh Foundation hosts the #ONEDAY Critical Needs Alert, an online giving event that supports basic needs and essential human services in Allegheny and Westmoreland counties. This year's Critical Needs Alert will take place online at  www.pittsburghgives.org on from 8 a.m. to 11:59 p.m.

The Critical Needs Alert benefits nonprofits providing direct service in five areas that strengthen the safety net of essential human services:

  • Child care - Programs providing child care for infants and children up to age 6. (Those that provide only before- or after-school programming do not qualify.)
  • Employment - Organizations providing employment-related services such as job readiness, job placement or job retention programs; training or education explicitly related to employment; and support services such as transportation, tools or clothing to enable individuals to work.
  • Eviction prevention and housing - Organizations that provide direct shelter to individuals and families in crisis. This also includes organizations that provide financial assistance, landlord-tenant mediation and other related services that assist individuals and families to stay safely in their homes.
  • Food and nutrition - Organizations such as food pantries, food banks and soup kitchens provide food to those who don't have the ability to meet daily needs.
  • Physical and mental health - Organizations providing clinical physical and mental health care. This includes supplies and staffing.

The Pittsburgh Foundation and its donors provide $500,000 in incentive funds benefiting Allegheny County nonprofits. The Community Foundation of Westmoreland County is providing $50,000 in incentive funds for Westmoreland County organizations. We hope you will join us in supporting nonprofit organizations doing the important work of helping our neighbors to thrive.
