I’m raising money today for The Midwife Center because I believe every woman deserves access to safe, respectful, and evidence-based care—especially when it comes to birth and reproductive health. Pennsylvania is in the midst of a maternal health crisis: nearly half of our counties have no obstetric services, and Black mothers are dying at rates two to three times higher than white mothers. Midwifery care is a proven solution, shown to prevent up to 80% of maternal and newborn deaths worldwide. The Midwife Center is the only independent birth center in Southwestern PA, providing care to people regardless of race, income, or insurance. And with political threats on the rise—including cuts to Medicaid and attacks on reproductive rights—we need to protect and expand access to care now.
