At Community Human Services (CHS), we believe everyone has value. Since 1970, we've served Pittsburgh by building programs rooted in community, equity, and dignity. No matter a person's race, background, gender identity, language, religion, or ability, CHS provides access to services we consider a basic human right-even for those repeatedly turned away or overlooked.

As a leader in Housing First and Harm Reduction, CHS offers a range of housing and support services for individuals and families facing housing crises. Our programs include shelters, permanent and transitional housing, mental health support, food access, and outreach.

We serve adults in Allegheny County who are unstably housed, at risk of losing housing, or already homeless. CHS manages scattered-site low-income housing and partners with landlords to meet residents' needs while addressing landlord-tenant concerns.

To keep people housed, we offer rental and utility assistance, household items, and case management. We also help older adults and those with health challenges stay safely in their homes.
